What the GM owns

The GM runs the store and answers for its profit. Anything that crosses departments, or that a department head cannot approve alone, lands on the GM. In a group the GM often picks store-level tools while the group office picks group-wide systems.

The titles they use

Where they are

1,743 are in Canada. 13,634 work at stores owned by a dealer group, so one group office can open the door to several GMs at once.

Who sells to GMs

• Software that touches more than one department.
• Marketing agencies and digital retail tools.
• Training and consulting firms.
• Recruiters filling department head roles.

Reaching them

GMs read email between deals. Keep it to a few lines, name one store-level result and ask one easy question. Copy the department head who owns the problem. See cold email to car dealers.
